Increase productivity by using the language of choice

Diane Swonk, KPMG chief economist, said in a CNBC article in late 2022, “Companies do not spend enough time asking workers what they want; they try to guess what they want, and they guess wrong”. To me, this is not hard to believe because as a society, the biggest enemy to being more productivity is the language of wrongness, our tendency to interpret what others are thinking or needing and react to it and yes, very likely, we may get it wrong.

In my opinion, most companies, with good intentions, attempt to address symptoms, not true needs, to increase productivity. It’s like going to the doctor and saying, I have a headache and the doctor prescribes pain meds to every patient who comes through the door with a headache regardless of age or situation. It does not work because each patient is different. To significantly increase productivity, I would like to suggest to companies to learn the language of choice up and down the corporate ladder because it creates the most collaborative and safe environment to thrive as a person, employee, & customer, and in turn the entire company. I would like to suggest that every startup or large organization create an employee and customer roadmap to fulfill their needs.
